This section lists the flora of Atys as it appears to the laymen homin. Note that many of this 'flora' isn't even really plants, but actually fungi or even immobile animals. But you'd have to dabble in botany a bit before you realise this.

The flora you may run into varies immensely based on the ecosystem of the continent you're in. Only a few plants appear in multiple ecosystems (like the Olansi tree that appears in both desert and lakelands). Thus the flora is classified by ecosystem.

Diese Pflanze, die höher ist als ihr Vetter der Seen, ist mit ihrem Stamm oder Scheinstamm kein Baum. Die besten Botaniker sind der Meinung, dass es sich eher um ein Gras handelt.

Die Blattkrone trägt zwischen zehn und zwanzig Blätter, die manchmal über zwanzig Fuß lang sind. Der Wüstenwind raubt ihnen die Farbe.

Eine einzige Knospe bringt alle Blätter und Blüten hervor. Diese Knospe arbeitet ununterbrochen: Der Olansi wächst also bis zu seinem Tod ununterbrochen. Obwohl die Knospe sehr gut geschützt ist, verleiht ihre Einzigartigkeit der Pflanze eine gewisse Empfindlichkeit, und sie ist anfällig gegenüber Kälte. Ihre Anwesenheit signalisiert immer Wasser in der Umgebung.

Die Olansi produziert männliche und weibliche Blüten und kann sich daher selbst befruchten. Ihre Frucht sieht aus wie eine runde Nuss und enthält ein essbares weißliches Fruchtfleisch.

Die Fyros extrahieren ihr Öl für verschiedene Zwecke und verwenden ihre Schale zur Herstellung von Gefäßen. Sein besonderes Holz hat eine faserige Maserung mit zwei unterschiedlichen Dichten, wobei sich der härteste Teil am äußeren Rand des Stammes befindet.

Wie alle seine Verwandten bildet es keine Jahresringe wie Bäume und weist daher keine Äste oder andere Unvollkommenheiten auf. Es wird im Bauwesen und in der Tischlerei verwendet.

Fyros Legend
