 Die [[Kitin aus den Tiefen]] sind eine Unterart der Kitin, über die noch sehr wenig bekannt ist. Sie sind besonders aggressiv gegenüber allen Rindenlebewesen, ''auch gegenüber anderen Kitin!'' Sie können nur bei gelegentlichen Invasionsversuchen beobachtet werden, die sich immer um einen groben Nestumriss herum abspielen. Die Ausrottung eines Schwarms erfordert immer die Mobilisierung einer großen Zahl von Homins aus allen Teilen des Planeten.
 Die manchmal als "Weiße Kitins" bezeichneten Kitin der Tiefen unterscheiden sich optisch von den anderen Kitins: Sie haben alle eine helle, leicht bläuliche und stellenweise schwarze Farbe, und das unabhängig von der Art. Dieser Punkt legt nahe, dass sie von einem Ort ohne Licht stammen, also aus den Tiefen von Atys, obwohl sie nie in den Urwurzeln beobachtet wurden. Diese Hypothese stützt sich also nicht auf einen konkreten Beweis.
